I allowed myself be taken by the gorgeousness of growing a garden again this past year, participating in the repetition of the same cycles that always feel new each time they happen. Now it’s harvest time again, and I feel blessed on so many levels — the seeds that came through the hands of so many ancestors, in partnership with the land, the mystery of the soil that carries the gift and the trauma of all that came before, the grace of the rain that came and kissed the ground, bringing the gift of life to the earth. And so much more.

One of the gifts that I am harvesting, along with this season’s abundance of winter squash, is another new collection of songs: a brand new album called “wandering home.” My intention was to curate the collection for a delicious feeling of expanding time . . . To be here, be long, like the third track says.

The inspiration for many of these songs came while I was in the garden. Sometimes just enjoying, blissed out by the beauty that I experienced; other times soul seeking, challenged by some of life’s hard lessons about letting go, knowing that all we love, we will lose… But loving wholeheartedly anyway.

Many of the songs are for singing together, and I hope you sing them with your loved ones — those you already know and those you may meet through making music together.

If you decide to sing them, I hope you will consider sending me a video or tagging me on social media. This will fill my heart to overflowing, while also helping my music reach a wider audience.

And as the Monarch butterflies that were part of my garden community are now on their way from my Minnesota garden to their winter homes in Mexico, I’m sending my love to our southern neighbors and hoping that the work that many of us are engaged in can be part of bringing peace and healing for our whole world.
